    There's two Aerosmiths

The good one died in 1979.

From the Boston Globe: Aerosmith has been actively working on its catalog. “We have a ton of unreleased material coming out over the next year and a half with remixes and alternate takes,” he said. A high point will be the release of the band’s acclaimed 1973 concert at Paul’s Mall, a bygone basement club on Boylston Street. The show was broadcast by rock station WBCN two months after the band released its debut album, and Perry has always maintained it was an important sign of their development.

Aerosmith will also release a video of its 1976 Pontiac Silverdome show. “There were 80,000 people indoors,” he said, calling the venue “the first of the mega-superdomes.”

The Paul’s Mall has been circulating forever in great quality (minus Make It, which is a tad fuzzy.) About 30 minutes of Pontiac was part of the ‘Scrapbook’ VHS release back in the 1980s. So not exactly Holy Grail releases.

Well to me it looks very interesting. The 78 tour is well documented with Live Bootleg and the extra songs from their old box set (the which also did the job regarding the studio stuff from the 70’s). The Road Starts Hear was really interesting but i would be frustrated if it was their only archival release.

I agree for the most part, though I actually really like Done With Mirrors (1985). After that it was definitely all downhill, slowly at first, and then rapidly...

Don't they have an MTV concert too that has never seen the light of day ?

Not MTV, but there were 3x songs shot in 3-D in West Virginia in December 1982. Would be a great special feature on a dvd release! C’mon guys! Audio from the gig (Sweet Emotion) is on Classics Live II. They must have audio of the entire show as well. Let’s hear it. Still early enough in the RIAHP tour we’re there are tunes played from that album (they dropped one by one as the tour went on.)

I would be more interested in Aerosmith if they gave us some deluxe archival issues of the first decade of albums. I like them fine but I could see myself dipping my toes in more if there were some demos and things that I've never heard before. Usually releases like this bring new fans and reevaluation of actual albums. Heck, a lot of this should have been done decades ago.

Their MTV Unplugged performance was hyped at the time that it aired as being shot in high definition, and this was in 1990, long before HDTV became commonplace in the US. I wonder if whatever early format it was shot in could potentially be converted to a modern HD format and rereleased.

So tired of live recordings. They all sound the same after a while, especially after decades of collecting bootlegs...

I think they should do something for the movie theaters like Taylor did with the eras tour.
maybe film some behind the scenes stories of their life on tour and bring back one of the best tours to the big screen.

I can’t believe after the huge hit the eras tours was at the box office no one is copying that idea. Remaster one of their best shows ever and add some behind the scenes footage.

Beyonce did it as well. This should now be the thing to do for major acts. Get their concert tour filmed and released quickly after the tour. Easy $$$.

I saw an ad that implied the movie for Gaga's 2022 tour will hit theaters as well, though a) might only be for 1 night, and b) I might've seen a fan-created "ad".

Not sure what the market would be for theatrical releases of concerts from Ye Olden Dayes, though - beyond 1 or 2 screening "Fathom Events" style stuff, that is.

As predicted 2023 - the bands 50th anniversary - came and went with zero output other than a greatest hits set of which only the Japanese 6 disc set was of any interest.

    Talk about missed opportunities :-(
